This is St. Basil's Cathedral located in Moscow, Russia. I was really drawn to this building because it is so different than any I've ever seen. It is a Russian Orthodox Church that was ordered by Ivan IV of Russia. He ordered it to commemorate the capture of the Kazan and Astrakhan. The church marks the geometric center of the city and is shaped as a flame of a bonfire rising into the sky. Bright colors were very popular in that time period. It took ten years to build, from 1551-1561.
This project was extremely difficult for me because I underestimated the amount of work involved. There is so much detail involved in the architecture and it really frustrated me at times. Overall, I am happy with the outcome and plan on visiting this place in the future!
